We would like to thank all of our customers who have functions, tables and accommodation bookings for their patience during these exceptional times.
 
We have been working hard to ensure that our family run business can weather the storm and keep the staff employed.
 
We will be releasing an online portal shortly for all customers to use to inform us what they would like to do in respect of their bookings.

Update 26th March 2020

Business is now temporarily closed and transactions suspended

Reservations.

We are very aware of the huge number of reservations which have been cancelled, both for our bedrooms, functions and restaurant together with the complete decimation of our business’s income. As a small family run hotel, this has been one the most difficult, heart wrenching times of our lives.  We ask that where possible, guests change their reservations to another date and carry forward deposits paid.  The date can be any time in the future and we are able to hold your deposit in our system until you decide.

For restaurant and function bookings, we ask that you can postpone your meal or event until a later date and we will move this to a time when circumstances allow us to.  Alternatively, we do offer vouchers which can be enjoyed at any time and we will gladly send these out to you.  Of course, we respect your decision if you wish to have your deposit refunded in cash.  We are currently working on this and will do so when able, however, we will be unable to refund until after the hotel has reopened

Advance purchase rates are non refundable however, we will allow you to move to another date free of charge.

Update 23rd March 2020

Our bar and restaurant are now fully closed and we are unable to provide any meals apart from Breakfast.  This can be served to your room.

We will be updating our policies shortly.

Update 17th March

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BAR & RESTAURANT

We are closing our bar & restaurant to the public from 10pm tonight.(Thursday 19th March 2020)
Our bedrooms are available to book with bed and breakfast available. Breakfast can be served to your room without additional charge to maintain social distancing. All of our rooms are treated with virucidal chemicals for ultimate hygiene.

Our reception will still be manned to take calls and enquiries and for residents.

We would like to make this perfectly clear. Government advice has been poorly communicated to the industry and whilst only advising people not to avoid their pubs, bars or restaurants instead of closing them as in other countries, has led to division and confusion amongst owners, staff and customers alike.

On behalf of all of the staff and management of The Royal Hotel, we would like to wish everyone the very best and this is a decision which has been hard to make and will continue to be very hard for us all.

In the meantime, I have some of the best staff who make the Royal Hotel what it is and if anyone can offer temporary employment at this difficult time, please contact the hotel on 0151 928 2332

Update 17th March

Our bar is currently open and we are serving bar meals 12 to 8 Thursday to Sunday

Our restaurant is now closed until further notice

ALL public areas (bar & restaurant) will be closed from Monday 23rd March 2020 until further notice

We will open for functions including funerals.  Funerals will be catered for in private in our bar (not open to general public).

Our accommodation (Rooms) will remain bookable and we are offering bed and full English Breakfast.  Breakfast may be taken in your room at no additional charge.

This event is still planned to take place.
Should the situation change due to any measures which are imposed by HM Government, then we will keep everyone informed and make a decision if and when it happens.
We will contact all bookings direct and we ask customers to be patient and wait for us to call them should such circumstances change.
Unfortunately, we do not know any more than anyone else at this stage.

Update 16th March 2020

The Royal Hotel remains fully open at present.

All staff are trained in extra sanitation methods including using virucidal sprays proven to kill the virus.  Cleaning will be constant so please bear in mind that at busier times, service may be compromised whilst we carry out the ongoing cleaning.

Staff are also trained in additional measures.

We are also offering Room Service for all meals should guests not wish to use the public areas.  Room service will be charged at normal bar and restaurant prices with no supplements for this service.
