Waterloo & Crosby Seafront

We are situated on the coast of the River Mersey with the Crosby Marina directly in front of the hotel.  On Crosby Beach the Antony Gormley sculpture "Another Place" features 100 life size statues looking out to sea.  It is about a 10 minute walk through the marine park to the beach front. Click here to have a look at local drove footage on you tube

Take a stroll along the historic Seafront Gardens directly in front of the hotel or walk a little further to reach the beach.  Take a walk along the historic Seafront terraces and see a fantastic collection of listed houses, many of which were once owned by the shipping owners including the house of James Ismay (owner of the White Star Line & The Titanic) and the house of Captain Smith who went down with the Titanic.

Crosby Leisure centre is located a mile away on the seafront and features a gym and swimming pool.  Click here for more information

Visit Formby Pine Woods

The national trust owned Formby Pinewoods includes the famous Red Squirrel sanctuary, sand dunes and asparagus fields and offers a range of walking and cycling and is a 20 minute drive from the hotel Click here for more information

Visit Liverpool City Centre

Liverpool city centre is about 15 - 20 minutes drive.  Attractions include, The Albert Dock, Liverpool One shopping centre, the two cathedrals, take a trip on the Ferry across the Mersey, Liverpool Museums and the Beatles Museum to name a few.  Click here for the Liverpool Tourist Website

Visit Anfield Stadium

Visit Southport

The historic coastal resort of Southport is a 30 minute drive from the hotel.  Enjoy the marine lake where you can hire a boat or a swan, model village, fun fair, amusement arcades or shop along the listed Lord Street.  Click here for more information

Cycling

The Royal Hotel is on the Sefton 810 circular cycleway which runs from Liverpool up to Southport.  Take a ride from the hotel along the seafront, up to Formby Pine Woods and along to Southport.  Click here for more information

For mountain bikers, take the 810 up to Formby pinewoods and along to the Ainsdale pinewoods where you will find some lovely trails through the woods.  At Formby you can find the wild bike trails which offer some downhill sections
